Open Water Installation Checks
Improper installation can sometimes cause the system to incorrectly detect that the transducer is out of the water.
Review the installation best practices and mounting guidelines for your transducer.
- Verify the transducer is mounted correctly.
- Make sure the transducer remains submerged while operating.
- Check for mounting locations that may introduce excessive turbulence or aerated water.
- Confirm all cable connections are secure and fully seated.
Note: Installation-related issues are more common when the message appears only while the boat is moving.
Power and Wiring Guidelines
MEGA Live (1st Generation) and MEGA 360
For MEGA Live (1st Generation) and MEGA 360, an "Out of Water" message can sometimes be caused by a ground loop or improper power connection.
For best results:
- Connect the system directly to a dedicated marine battery or through a properly wired switch panel.
- Verify all power and ground connections are clean and secure.
- Inspect wiring for corrosion, loose connections, or damaged insulation.
Do Not:
- Connect MEGA Live (1st Generation) or MEGA 360 through the trolling motor battery bank.
- Share power circuits that may introduce electrical interference.
Caution: Connecting these products through the trolling motor battery bank may result in power-related issues, interference, or incorrect transducer operation.
MEGA Live 2
The ground loop condition described above does not typically apply to MEGA Live 2.
If you are using MEGA Live 2 and continue receiving the message after updating the software and verifying the installation, inspect all power, Ethernet, and transducer connections and continue with any additional troubleshooting recommended for your system.
