5 Speed Switch and Speed Coil Testing (all 5 Speed hand-controlled motors 1998-present)

If you are having issues with selecting speeds or some or all speeds not working on your 5 speed trolling motor, you may have a bad speed switch or the issue could be the in the lower unit of the motor. If your switch is good, the issue is most likely in the lower unit of your trolling motor and could be several things including the speed coil, water intrusion, or bad brushes.

Note: The wiring in an Endura and models similar to it can have a chance of melted and/or damaged wires. This can happen due to improper rigging such as lack of a circuit breaker or in-line fuse, incorrect circuit breaker or in-line fuse, wrong gauge size (AWG) of battery wire if the leads were extended, over use of high speeds on the motor or other power related issues.

  • If you are under warranty you will need to take the motor along with your proof of purchase to an Authorized Service Center.
