Troubleshooting your i-Pilot Link Remote

The most common issues for Bluetooth i-Pilot Link Remotes and Legacy i-Pilot Link Remotes are listed below.

Bluetooth i-Pilot Link Remotes

  • Bluetooth i-Pilot Link Remote will not turn on

    1. To turn on the remote, quick press and release the OK button. The remote should then turn on.Click here for additional information.
    2. If the remote does not turn on, charge the battery using the USB charger. When plugged in, the red LED indicating the remote is connected to the charger should light up.
    3. Replace the battery. The remote uses a 3.7 volt, 1200mAh rechargeable Lithium battery with white connector, part number 2390710. Click here for additional information.
    4. Replace the charger. The remote uses a charging cable, part number 2373241. Click here for additional information.
    5. If the remote will not turn on and has a new battery and you are using a new charger, the remote will need to be replaced.
  • The Red LED Charging light will not turn off. 

    This is normal behavior for the LED. The light only indicates the remote is connected to the charger and receiving power. To check the power level of the charge, turn the remote on and look at the battery indicator. 

  • "Motor Not Found" Error for Bluetooth i-Pilot Link

    If your Bluetooth i-Pilot Remote shows "Motor Not Found" the i-Pilot Link remote is not able to communicate with the i-Pilot Link Controller built into the trolling motor. Click here for more information.

    1. The motor not being powered up. 
    2. The remote not being paired to the controller.
    3. The network plug connections, at the motor control board or in the control box, unplugged or damaged.
    4. Broken/intermittent wire in the coil cord or network plug connections.
  • Bluetooth i-Pilot Link Remote "Invalid Software" Recovery

    If upon power up of your Bluetooth i-Pilot Link remote, you see a text screen that says the current software is invalid (pictured below), this may be recoverable by updating the software from this screen. Legacy i-Pilot Link Remotes

  • Legacy i-Pilot Remote i-Pilot Remote will not turn on

    1. To turn on the remote, quick press and release the OK button. The remote should then turn on. Click here for additional information.

    1. The motor not being powered up. (Connected to appropriate voltage and powered on. Terrova and PowerDrive motors prior to 2017 must also be deployed, green system ready light on.)
    2. The remote not being learned to the controller.
    3. The network plug connections, at the motor control board or in the control box, unplugged or damaged.
    4. Broken/intermittent wire in the coil cord or network plug connections.

Replacement Options

  • Bluetooth i-Pilot Link Remote Replacement Options

    • If the remote came with your trolling motor and the motor is still under warranty, the warranty covers the remote. If the remote is under the trolling motor warranty, please call 1-800-227-6433 with your remote, trolling motor serial number, and proof of purchase available. We will determine warranty eligibility and if under warranty, assist in replacing the remote.
    • If the remote was purchased separately from your motor as an accessory, the remote has a 2 year warranty from the date of purchase. If the remote is under warranty, please call 1-800-227-6433 with your remote and proof of purchase available. We will determine warranty eligibility and if under warranty, assist in replacing the remote.
    • If the remote is not within the warranty period for the motor or from purchasing it separately, you can purchase a Bluetooth i-Pilot Link replacement remote (item number 1866650) by clicking here.
  • Legacy i-Pilot Remote Replacement Options

    • The Legacy i-Pilot Link Remote is no longer available. You may be able to find one secondhand.
