Wirelessly Connect Minn Kota and Humminbird Fish Finders to Minn Kota Trolling Motors

Experience seamless control and navigation with wireless connectivity between your Minn Kota trolling motor and fish finder. A Minn Kota trolling motor and fish finder sync easily wirelessly, so you can save time rigging and spend more time fishing. Anglers can control their trolling motor through the foot pedal, fish finder, wireless remote, or the Minn Kota Fishing App, giving them the flexibility to choose the control method that best fits their style of fishing, all while maintaining a cleaner, more streamlined setup.

Requirements

Wireless Connectivity will be standard on Advanced GPS Trolling Motors (2027-present) and available via software updates on 2024-present trolling motors equipped with Advanced GPS. To use Wireless Connectivity, you will need:

  • Compatible Trolling Motor:
    • Ultrex QUEST
    • Ulterra QUEST
    • Riptide Instinct QUEST
    • Terrova QUEST and Riptide Terrova QUEST
    • Ultrex
    • Ulterra
    • Terrova and Riptide Terrova
    • PowerDrive and Riptide PowerDrive (equipped with Advanced GPS Navigation)
  • Compatible Fish Finder: (with updated software)
    • X Series
    • A Series
    • XPLORE
    • APEX
    • SOLIX G3

Pairing a Trolling Motor to a Fish Finder

Note: If you have an Ethernet cable connected to the short cable beneath the trolling motor head, disconnect to use wireless connectivity.

Note: The fish finder paired to the trolling motor will share trolling motor control with all other networked fish finders. 

A compatible fish finder can pair up to two devices wirelessly at the same time. If both connections are in use, move a wireless device to another networked fish finder, [Moving a Wireless Connection], or pair the trolling motor with a different fish finder on the network. The following wireless devices can be paired with X Series, A Series, XPLORE, APEX and SOLIX G3 fish finders:
  • Minn Kota Trolling Motor with Advanced GPS Navigation
  • Minn Kota Fishing App
  • Shallow Water Anchors - One wireless connection per pair (one connection if using a single Shallow Water Anchor)
  • Cannon Optimum Downriggers - One wireless connection for up to 4 linked downriggers

Wireless Connection

  1. Update all fish finders, trolling motor and accessories to current software, Finding Software Updates.
  2. Press Home.
  3. Tap on Network + Devices.

  4. Select Add Devices.

  5. Under Trolling Motor, choose Connect.

  6. Follow the onscreen prompts to pair the trolling motor to the fish finder. While in pairing mode, the trolling motor will emit a steady tone. The trolling motor will emit a steady tone when Pair is pressed. Three long beeps will be heard from the trolling motor when pairing is successful.

  7. If Trolling Motor or Intelligent Depth Control setup appears, complete them.

Moving a Wireless Connection

  1. Press Home.
  2. Select Network + Devices.

  4. On the right, choose Forget for the desired device.

  6. Pair the trolling motor to the fish finder, Pairing Trolling Motor to a Fish Finder.
  7. Add the Shallow Water Anchor(s), Minn Kota Fishing App or Downrigger(s) to another networked fish finder by selecting the appropriate connect option.
    1. Press Home.
    2. Select Network + Devices.

    3. On the left, tap Add Devices.

    4. Click Connect on desired device and follow the onscreen instructions. A fish finder can be paired with only one non-trolling motor device or app. If you connect one non-trolling motor device to your fish finder, and want to add another device, you must use another fish finder on the network.

Troubleshooting Wireless Connectivity

  1. If pairing between the trolling motor and fish finder is unsuccessful, restore factory defaults on the fish finder. 
  2. Verify Simulation and Demo Mode are turned off.
    1. Press Home.
    2. In the lower right corner, select Settings.

    3. On the left, choose Simulation. Verify Simulation and Demo Mode are turned off.

  3. Reset the trolling motor by turning it off for 5 seconds and then powering the motor back on.
  4. Pair Shallow Water Anchor(s), Minn Kota Fishing App or Downrigger(s) to the fish finder.

    Pairing a non-Trolling Motor Device

     

    1. Press Home.
    2. Select Network + Devices.

    4. Click Connect on desired device and follow the onscreen instructions. A fish finder can be paired with only one non-trolling motor device or app.

  5. Pair the trolling motor.
  6. If pairing is unsuccessful, restore network settings on the Advance GPS Navigation wireless remote.

    1. On the Advance GPS Navigation wireless remote, press Menu.

    2. Use the Speed Up or Speed Down button to find Bluetooth. Use the Steer Right button to select Bluetooth.

    3. Use the Speed Up or Speed Down button to find Restore Network. Use the Steer Right button to select Restore Network.

    4. Re-pair devices:
  7. Pair the trolling motor.
  8. If the trolling motor will not pair, connect the trolling motor to the network or fish finder by using the networking cable included with your trolling motor.
