Setting the Ulterra QUEST and Riptide Instinct QUEST Shaft Length

Use this article if your Riptide Instinct QUEST or Ulterra QUEST trolling motor does not trim correctly because the programmed shaft length does not match the actual shaft length.

This may show up as a 45" motor continuing to trim past 45", or a 72", 87", or 100" motor stopping at 60". The steps below explain how to correct the shaft length setting so the motor trims and deploys as expected. You will need the Advanced GPS Navigation Package v2.550.

  1. To access Customer Service Mode you Press and hold Cruise Control and tap Spot Lock twice. Nothing should visibly happen when you do this, “Customer Service” becomes the top menu option when you press the menu button.

  2. To Set the shaft length, after entering Customer Service Mode as Described above, Press the menu button, select “Customer Service”, press the right button to select it; at present, April, 2026, the only option in Customer Service will be Shaft Length and will display the current shaft length selection. To change that selection press the right arrow, press + and - until the correct shaft length is highlighted, press the right arrow select that shaft length.
