Legacy Talon Shallow Water Anchor Remotes (2011-2017)

Older Talons (2011–2017) can be learned to a 2-Button Remote, 4-Button Remote, or the Legacy Talon Foot Switch. However, they are not compatible with Bluetooth Talons (2018–present) or their accessories, such as the Bluetooth Talon Remotes, Bluetooth Talon Foot Switch, or Stomp Switches. Two options were available for Legacy Talon Remotes: the 2-Button Remote (Item number 1810256, no longer available) and the 4-Button Remote (Item number 1810251, no longer available). Both remotes offer the same functionality, with the 2-Button Remote controlling a single Talon and the 4-Button Remote capable of controlling two Talons.

Compatibility

The Talon 2-Button Remote and 4-Button Remote are designed for use with Talons manufactured between 2011 and 2017. They are not compatible with Bluetooth-enabled Talons produced from 2018 onwards.

Learn and Forget Talons and Remotes

Learning the 2-Button Talon Remote and the 4-Button Talon Remote is crucial for establishing communication between the remote and Talon(s). It ensures the remotes are properly connected, allowing precise and efficient control over essential functions such as deploying and retracting Talons.

Clearing learned connections is beneficial if you're experiencing control issues, switching to a new remote, or connecting the Talon to a different device. This process helps ensure smooth and reliable operation by removing unnecessary or incorrect connections.

Forget all Talons on the Remotes

Remotes will remember the last Talon they were paired to. To forget or remove a previous Talon, learn a new Talon. If you are using the Talon 4-Button Remote, you will need to learn a new Talon to each side.

Replace the Battery

You will need one CR2032 coin-cell battery for both the 2 Button and 4 Button remotes.

  1. With the remote upside down, remove the four (4) case screws.
  2. Remove the bottom cover.
  3. Carefully remove the old battery from the battery holder and replace with a new one. The battery snaps in and out of the battery holder. Install the new battery with the positive (+) side facing up away from the circuit board. Use a name brand CR2032 lithium coin cell battery.
  4. Replace back cover and reinstall case screws. Do not over tighten case screws as this will damage the remote enclosure.

Using the Remotes

The functionality of the 2-Button and 4-Button remotes is identical. However, the 4-Button remote is equipped with two sets of up and down buttons, allowing it to control two Talons, whereas the 2-Button remote is designed to control just one.

  • Deploy Talon
Press the DOWN button twice within ½ second.
  • Retract Talon
    Press the UP button once.
  • Stop Talon while it is Deploying or Retracting
Press the UP button once or DOWN button twice within ½ second.

Range

The range of the Legacy Talon Shallow Water Anchor Remotes is 30 feet. The range of the remote will be greatly reduced if it is used near or mounted to any metal object including aluminum or steel. It is also recommended that the front end of the remote not be obstructed during use.
